Megan-thanks for sharing. I feel like I'm in Africa when I read your writings. Welcome home! I, too, have held the hand of many people that died that day or soon after. It is a sad thing, but it is also incredible how death gives birth to life.

While it is sad to see, experience and know, my time in Africa has given me new life again and again. I'm so grateful it has done the same for you.

Looking forward to seeing you whenever our paths cross again.

Best,
Ryan

I came across your blog and i was very interested in your great writings.
I just came back to the USA from Sudan, but i used to live in Buvuma island in lake victoria and I travel to Uganda frequently. I have close friends in Kamuli.
Herbert Kabuluku from K amuli Baptist Church is one of them plus many others. I Hope Uganda presses in your heart a deep sense of responsability to act based on what your eyes have seen during this time.
Be blessed.

Hi Megan--I'm doing blog-reading catch-up today! Saw your piece on PEPFAR and wanted you to know I sent it to our MCC advocacy office in DC and to the Generations at Risk coordinator in Winnipeg. They might contact you about it, not sure. It's helpful to have "from the frontlines" perspectives on NA govt interventions! Thanks so much!

Hello Megan,

It is Tom Malinaric from Solid Rock. I enjoy reading your blog. You are an excellent writer and it is obvious that God is using this time in your life mightily. If you should ever be in personal need of some financial aid/help or you come in contact with a family or individual that is in need (I am guessing that this is daily?), please let me know as Mary and I would like to see if we can help. When I look around, I see that my life is entirely to "comfortable", so please don't be shy!

Hope all is well on the other side of the world.

Megan,

I think it is a great thing that you are being honest with your life and yourself. Like what you said about the chickens and how that affects other perspectives in your life. This might sound garbled and random. I just stopped by to see how you are doing over there and I'm in a weird mood, so off I go on this.

I hate being surrounded by people in NY and feeling so alone. I feel like someone just needs to touch me, my shoulder, my arm so that I can feel the warmth of something real.

Anyway, I like to see a little of what you are up to, because it helps me have a little sense of perspective with something different. Sorry this is so random, I know we haven't talked in forever.

Hope all is well-
Kelsey

Hi, Megan. I'm a friend of your mom. I've been reading your stuff for a few weeks. It's 3 weeks til Christmas and your quandry over giving and recieving gifts is interesting.I don't like the idea of receiving a gift with strings attatched or the expectation that the giver wants one in return. As often as people say they don't want to get caught up in the commercial frenzy of Christmas gift buying and wrapping it's hard to avoid. Most of the time I try to live in love, everyday is Christmas and Thanksgiving! But if I was participating in a culture so different from my own I might be afraid to receive a gift knowing, or not knowing what I may be committing to. I really appreciate your courage to be in Africa for a long time and I look forward to reading your entries as you struggle to make sense of life. Live in love. Sara Swanson
